This garden is on an
extremely steep hill that was covered by trees and overgrown
shrubbery that restricted light to the house and the existing small
part of the garden that could be utilised.
The customers wanted
to be able to make use all of the garden but didn’t really know what
they wanted and could not think how anything could be made of the
area with the restrictions of the steepness of the land.
After cutting back
all the trees and clearing overgrowth, the customers were amazed at
the size of their garden.
They were delighted with the results of a stream running from
the top of the slope down the centre of the garden into a
reservoir. The water
runs over rocks that filter the water to keep it clean.
A gravel path zig
zags all the way up to the top where a patio table and chairs are
situated for the customers to see a new view of their house and
garden whilst they listen to the relaxing sound of water running
over the rocks.
Timber retaining
walls are constructed, together with wooden bridges over the
stream. Wooden
handrails at the side of the bridges are for safety and a gravel
path enhance the overall picture.
A rockery has been
constructed at the base of the slope with larger rocks interspersed
amongst the planting.
